Jeremy Basch is from Westlake, OH near Cleveland, OH and currently lives in Columbus, OH with wife and child. He started keeping fish over 30 years ago at the age of 10. While he has always shown an interest in fish, he became hooked when his father took him to a pet shop and he saw his first saltwater aquarium. Jeremy’s first job at age 16, was at the largest fish store in the Midwest where he learned about many species of fish and met many lifelong friends.
Jeremy has kept numerous species of fish over the years including cichlids, catfish, rainbowfish, killifish, livebearers, and even saltwater species. Currently, Jeremy has just over 100 aquariums in his fishroom focusing on cichlids of the genus Apistogramma and catfish from the families of Auchenipteridae – the Driftwood Cats, Callichthyidae – Cory Cats and Loricariidae – Plecos species. Jeremy is probably best known for the first documentation captive reproduction of the Jaguar Catfish, Liosomadoras oncinus, that spawned in 2014. He was also the first to document the captive reproduction of Balroglanis schulzi, Duringlanis altae and Tatia gyrina.
