Grew up in central Mexico where first fell in love with livebearers. My first successful spawn was from a female guppy followed by wild-caught Godea atripinnis and Xenotoca variata. Many years would go by before my intro to cichlids with the then-named Ciclasoma salvini (now Trichromis salvini). I would later stumble on a specimen of Paratilapia polleni purchased in an auction at a fish meeting sometime in early 2000. My desire for venturing into Malagasy cichlids and killis was well on its way to developing into a full-blown addiction soon after. Currently keep goodeids, killis from Mexico and Madagascar as well as cichlids from many parts of the world. My interests in fishkeeping are driven by conservation and the same curiosity for the underwater life that has been always captivated me since childhood.
