Humberto has been immersed in the tropical fish business his entire life. His father entered the industry in the early 1970s, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion.

As a baby, Humberto would often cry nonstop while his parents packed overnight shipments—until they discovered that placing him on a styrofoam box beside them calmed him down. That early exposure sparked his enduring love for the trade.

After a brief stint in college, Humberto embraced early parenthood and moved to Miami, where he launched his own tropical fish wholesale business in May 2000. Through relentless hard work and the loyal support of customers in Central Florida, he built a thriving enterprise.

Today, Humberto owns Orinoco Aquarium Farm in Colombia, the largest tropical fish facility in the country. From there, he now ships to some of the biggest customers around the globe, continuing to expand his reach and reputation.

Family is Humberto’s top priority. His amazing wife and two wonderful sons are what make his life full. Outside of work, he’s passionate about adventure motorcycles and jungle expeditions—an interest inspired by Spencer Jack’s idea to explore Colombia’s breathtaking landscapes and culture in search of fish.

And believe it or not, Humberto still finds time to play tennis three to four times a week!

In 2026, Humberto will deliver his first-ever public talk in the great state of Kentucky—hopefully the first of many to come.
